An appalling gaffe

...Or should that be "appauling"? The suspicion of racism has long hung like a dark cloud over Ron Paul, and he did nothing to dispel it when he foolishly shot his mouth off on "Meet the Press" to the effect that Abe Lincoln should have appeased Southern slaveowners and bought them off instead of going to war against them.

Of course the fanatical true believers will try to spin this away, just like they go into spin overdrive every time Paul opens his mouth and reveals himself to be a clueless old coot. But hopefully this will be last straw for any sane, decent people who might have been interested in his candidacy. The would-be emperor is very definitely naked.
