As I've mentioned before, I am a child abuse survivor. The abuse went as far back as I can remember, and no-one was ever held accountable for it. So when a case like Mark Foley's comes up, I feel a special visceral disgust and loathing that those lucky enough not to have been affected by child abuse cannot understand.

It's not about partisan politics. Mark Foley is the lowest kind of scum, and hell isn't hot enough for him. Or for the whited sepulchers, Hastert, Boner et al who knew a year ago and kept enabling him, and are now frantically condemning him with breath-taking hypocrisy for committing "an obscene breach of trust," i.e. getting caught. Or for the right-wing corporatist media that is sickeningly trying to spin away this avalanche of sleaze. And I would say exactly the same if the Democrats were doing this sort of thing.

But it does seem like pedophile scumbags gravitate towards the GOP. Remember Brian Doyle, the big cheese in the Department of Heimat Security who indulged in internet sex with minors? Or the case of Clifton Bennett, son of the Arizona senate president, who raped 38 boys with broomsticks at a camp where he was counsellor, and got off Scot free?

I wonder why so many rethugs are pedophiles? I can think of a few possible reasons.

Firstly, there's the issue of control. For all their pious mouthing about freedom and liberty, 'thugs get off on controlling other people and telling them how to live their lives - especially their sex lives. Republicans are natural-born bullies and sadists. And like all bullies, they are cowards. Since children are easier to bully and control, easier to exploit sexually, and less likely to resist and fight back, it makes sense that 'thugs are more inclined to victimize them.

Another factor is what I call Fear of Fucking. The lunatic religious right fundocrats have a visceral fear and loathing of sex that it flat-out pathological. They spend hours wailing and praying to Jeezus for the strength to resist the stirrings that Satan causes in their flabby loins. So when temptation proves too much, the floodgates open and the 'thugs figure they might as well have sex in the most depraved and perverted manner imaginable.

Plus, it's well known that 'thugs have smaller dicks, and all their macho posturing and blustering is a pathetic attempt to compensate. Maybe they figure their cheneys will look bigger next to (or in) a child.

In any case, the sickness and sleaze of the 'thugs when it comes to sex is a reflection of their all-round sickness and dysfunction as human beings. They are walking corpses, brain-dead zombies totally lacking a conscience or an iota of empathy for their fellow creatures, putrescent piles of foulness and corruption who turn everything they touch to feces.

It's a good thing the US now officially condones torture, so that we have a suitable punishment in store when we take our country back. (Only half joking...)
